2021 Tempranillo
This wine is sourced from Echo West Vineyard, which is located SW of Walla Walla, Washington on a southeast-sloping bluff overlooking Oregon’s Umatilla river. The soil has deep volcanic ash, leading to hardy, full flavored fruit.
28 months in once-used French oak barrels make this a nicely aged wine. It is more old-world “Rioja” styled, reminiscent of a “Gran Reserva”, and would benefit from decanting.
It has intense “blue notes”, blackberries, mulberries, as well as raspberries. There are tobacco, plums, and cocoa notes as well.
This wine would pair well with full-flavored meats, like game, chorizo, grilled meats prepared with herbs, and even roast lamb.
