2022 Cabernet Franc

100% Cabernet Franc from Southwind Vineyard on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla AVA, just west of Milton-Freewater.

Our Cabernet Franc showcases vibrant aromas of black raspberry, dried herbs, and violet. The palate is refined and layered, with notes of plum, graphite, vanilla, and a hint of savory spice, framed by elegant tannins and fresh acidity. A true expression of the balance between ripeness and restraint, this wine is both food-friendly and cellar-worthy.

Pairing Tips: Herbal and peppery notes complement its full body, pairing beautifully with lamb gyros or fresh herb roasted chicken.

2018 Avenencia

The 2021 Avenencia is a classic Bordeaux Blend sourced from Kamiak Vineyard, overlooking the Snake River by Pasco, Washington.  It is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Malbec.  It was aged 26 months in French oak (20% new, and 80% neutral).

This wine is nicely elegant with an intensity of flavor.  Not massive or powerful like a Big Cabernet, it has pleasant, soft fruit with silky tannins and texture.

There are notes of chocolate, graphite, and dried herbs, but black currant, black cherries, and raspberries dominate; it is bright and juicy in the tradition of “old world Bordeax” styled blends.

This wine would pair delightfully with leaner meats, like a filet mignon.  For a nice change, try this wine with a nice pork dish prepared with fruit (like plums).

2021 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Bacchus (20%), Dionysus (20%), and Weinbau (40%) vineyards, all located in the White Bluffs AVA, and from the Southwind Vineyard (20%), located in the Walla Walla AVA.

It was aged 28 months in French Oak, 25% of it was new, and 75% was neutral oak, and blended 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc, leading to a nicely balance wine, with an aromatic nose and pleasant finish.

The tannins and acidity in this wine are deliciously balanced. Expect aromas of graphite, cedar, and eucalyptus; although dark fruit dominates, with flavors of black cherry, plum, and blackberry. Nuanced hints of vanilla, cinnamon, and toast tones.

This wine would pair well with a nice juicy steak, simply seasoned with salt and pepper, lamb skewers, or a nice charcuterie plate.  For a treat, try it with a juicy cheeseburger.
